Carfax is expanding the service information in its reports, providing a better understanding of how a vehicle was maintained. Now, more detailed service records are displayed in all Carfax Vehicle History Reports. Consumers demand this kind of data to help them make informed decisions about a car’s past performance and future roadworthiness.
Potential owners see detailed records of routine maintenance, such as oil changes and tune-ups, along with more extensive information like damage repairs and parts replacement, when available. The service history displays the name, location and Web address of each shop that provides maintenance information to Carfax.

"Knowing specific details about past maintenance may effect the consumer’s decision. Now they have an ever-expanding database of information right at their fingertips."
Prior to purchasing a vehicle, used car buyers should request maintenance records from the seller. Carfax also strongly recommends having an inspection performed by a trustworthy, reliable mechanic. Combined with the Carfax report, this information may help uncover any hidden problems.
